After lying in bed looking out at the cold, gray sky this morning for 20 minutes, I said “Just go!”
So, I put on my jogging clothes and pulled my hair up in a pony, popped on my baseball cap and headed out the door. It was misty but not raining — and a chilly 40 degrees. But I jogged. And it felt…
you totally inspired me to run 5 miles today!
i was thinking to myself, “crap! i have to run a 5 mile race next sunday! and i won’t be able to run 5 miles before then because it just won’t fit into my training plan.” but then i saw your post and how you ran over 4 miles just for the hell of it, not for a race or anything, just because you wanted it for yourself. and well… i aimed to go for a 3.6 mile run today, but ended up pushing myself to do 5 miles.
so thank you! =]
5 miles in 1 hour 19 minutes, which is a 15:48 pace. not ideal, but i know i can finish the race next sunday in less than 1 hour 15 minutes. i think the adrenaline will push me faster, and today was quite windy and drizzly.
the first part of my run wasn’t so great, but once i found a rhythm and a pace (albeit a very, very slow one), it felt awesome! i’m going to buy myself a cheap wristwatch with a timer today. and i don’t feel as nervous anymore about next sunday.
